Honorary book donors of the LBUS Library

Nikolaus BLAVUSTYAK
It is the largest book donor, it has enriched the fund of the University Library in Sibiu with over 15,000 bibliographic items.
The largest part of the donation includes works of literature, but other fields are also present: art, civilizations, history, geography, medicine, music. For his contribution to the development of the ULBS Library, Nikolaus Blavustyak received the silver medal of the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu, on October 1, 2009, during the Opening Ceremony of the New University Year.

Wolfgang BUNEMANN
Wolfgang Bünemann comes from a family of Germanists and art historians, with studies in the field of restoration.
The personal library includes books from the fields of personal and professional interest: art, philosophy, religion, literature. He decided to donate them to a young library to use for scientific research.
The good collaboration with the ULBS Library was realized by the arrival in Sibiu of the 2200 kg of books, very well maintained, which represent special and very valuable editions.


Dumitru CIOCOI-POP, (1943-2019)
He was born on September 12, 1943 in Bucharest, attended Babes-Bolyai Cluj University (English and American Literature), graduated in 1977 with the title of Ph.D. in Philology.
After 1992, the new team led by Prof. Dr. Dumitru Ciocoi-Pop took over the leadership mandate of the University of Sibiu. He promoted an unprecedented policy of academic contacts and connections, aiming to place the young Sibiu university at the forefront of Romanian university education, through a large-scale international cooperation. For its affirmation among the forty-eight state universities, eight military academies and forty-nine private universities, the University of Sibiu would enjoy success only through interaction and cooperation.
In 1995, under his leadership and by order of the Minister of Education, the Sibiu institution came under the brand spiritual patronage: Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu.
As a recognition of his merits, by Decision no. 153/1997, he receives the title of Honorary Citizen of Sibiu: Dumitru Ciocoi-Pop, rector of the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu, university professor with numerous reference works in the field of English literature -American, recognized in the international academic world, for the modern development strategy of the University of Sibiu, which became the “Lucian Blaga” University on May 12, 1995.

Pimen CONSTANTINESCU, (1905-1973)
The renowned Italianist was born on August 27, 1905 in Plăgineşti, Râmnicu Sărat county, he completed his primary and high school studies in Focşani. Between 1969 and 1971, he was the main bibliographer at the Library of the Faculty of History-Philology in Sibiu (belonging to the “Babeş-Bolyai” University in Cluj), a period from which the donation of the book fund bearing his name dates back.

Viorel FLOREA, Prof.Univ.Dr.Eng. Viorel Florea (11.02.1942 – 19.02.2016)
After completing his secondary and high school studies, he followed his university studies, in the field of Machine Construction Technology, at the Polytechnic Institute of Brașov (the current “Transylvania” University of Brașov).

Victor V. GRECU, (1937-2020)
University professor with an impressive activity within the academic community, he was dean and then vice-rector of the University of Oradea, vice-rector of the University Pedagogical Seminary in Sibiu, head of Department, scientific secretary of the Senate of the Sibiu University, senior scientific researcher I of the Romanian Academy, editor -head of the magazine of the Institute of Socio-Human Research in Sibiu. The distinction of Doctor Honoris Causa, awards (Honorary Diploma of the University Senate.

Ilie GUȚAN, (1939-2010)
Born on July 20, 1939, in Dragotești commune, Dolj county, Ilie Guțan graduated from the Faculty of Romanian Language and Literature of the University of Bucharest (1958-1963).

Eugène van ITTERBEEK, (1934-2012) 

Professor Eugène van Itterbeek, doctor of letters and law, born in Kessel, in 1934, settled in Romania in 1994, after a fruitful career in Belgium: academic, poet, literary critic, translator, essayist, editor of various literary magazines or dignitary at European commissions and UNESCO. He came to Sibiu as a founder in 1992 of the European Center for Poetry and East-West Cultural Dialogue and in 1994 became an associate professor at the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu. A graduate of the Faculties of Law and Philosophy and Letters of the University of Leuven (Belgium), with two doctorates in Law and Letters, Eugène van Itterbeek was already at that time a prominent cultural and scientific personality with an impressive scientific record.

Nicolae JURCA, (1935-2010)
Born on November 20, 1935 in Bucium Muntari, Alba county, in the heart of the Motilor Land, Nicolae Jurca left behind a rich list of achievements. He graduated from the Faculty of History of the Babeş Bolyai University in Cluj in 1957, obtained two doctorates, one before the revolution and another after 1989, he was awarded by the Romanian Academy in 1994 with the Nicolae Bălcescu prize for the work History of social democracy in Romania.

Emilia St. MILICESCU, (1908-1999)
Emilia Milicescu, the daughter of clerk Paul Sadoveanu and Mariana (née Stoian), was born on April 6, 1908, in the Bechet commune of Dolj county. Poet, prose writer, publicist in chronological order, Emilia Șt. Milicescu established herself on the literary level first as the author of stories, published at the age of 30, in “Lumea romănească”.

Ezechil OANCEA, (1941-2014)
Father Ezechil Oancea was born on May 13, 1941, in Sibiu, to parents Ezechil and Elena. He attended the courses of the “Gheorghe Lazar” High School in Sibiu, and in 1965 he enrolled in the courses of the University Degree Theological Institute in the Transylvanian citadel.

Mircea PĂCURARIU, (1932-2021)
Mircea Păcurariu was born on July 30, 1932 in the village of Rusi, Hunedoara county, he studied at the “Decebal” High School in Deva (1943-1951), at the Faculty of History of the University of Cluj (unfinished, 1951-1952), then at the Institute Theological University of Sibiu (1952-1956), where he obtained his degree in theology.

Radu SELEJAN, (1935-2000)
Radu Selejan was born on November 5, 1935 in the city of Brad in Hunedoara county and passed away on June 7, 2000 in the city of Sibiu. Literary activity was constantly doubled by newspaper activity, being a talented and prodigious publicist.
