The digital library of ULBS is developed on the DSpace platform, a digital-repository system among the most used in the world.

The ULBS Digital Library preserves and enables easy and open access to all types of digital content.
The selection criteria for digitization are:

• documentary materials / resources with heritage value, in different formats (photo, text, video, audio, etc.)
• documentary materials / resources useful for research projects
• requested and digitized relevant resources/publications for researchers
• doctoral theses defended at “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu (abstracts)

The digital collections are in continuous development with a new digital Corpus of old books, old periodicals, manuscripts, structured as follows:

* The “LBUS Library Digitization Projects” collection is made up of digital collections of the most important digitization projects in which the library has participated over the years, either for Europeana (Europeana Libraries 2011-2012 and Europeana Cloud 2013-2015 projects), or for The Sibiu Local Council and for the Sibiu County Council, between 2016 – 2020.
