PerformAccess project – performative translations of silence
The project initiated by the ULBS Library involves a collaboration between the Department of Sociology, Human Resources, Social Work of the Faculty of Socio-Human Sciences, the Department of Theatre Arts of the Faculty of Letters and aims to make the concept of disability theatre operational within the theatre higher education.
Acting students and other majors from ULBS, as well as young people with hearing impairments will work together in theatre workshops, produce a four-performance theatre show and Q&A sessions, develop a practical guide and a series of reports that will problematize the relationship between theatre and the body, access to representation and artistic training.
The project also includes an intensive course on learning the mime-gestual language, addressed to the artistic team and the implementation team, as well as to teachers and librarians from ULBS.
The implementation team is made up of students from the University of Sibiu “Lucian Blaga”, advised and coordinated by teachers from the same university. This is the first project in a longer series, which aims to raise awareness of the concept of disability theatre in higher education institutions and the inclusion of people with disabilities in the artistic scene and in the higher education system.
